So I have a rough version of my Portfolio page done. It’s still kind of a work in progress. I intend on doing some tweaking to get a more desirable layout and I want to incorporate each image in my portfolio as it’s own separate blog item. Once everything it tweaked you’ll be able to download the theme!

To do all my coding I use Panic’s CODA. It’s an awesome, lightweight piece of software that makes Adobe Dreamweaver look like the fat ugly step-child of web-development software. It has some helpfull plug-ins that are easy to install, clips of commonly used code that make a developers life a little easier, and a books section that can assist even noobs like myself. In the past 2 weeks I’ve learned the in’s-and-outs of the software and have fallen in love. If you’re using Adobe Dreamweaver, I suggest downloading the demo of CODA. There’s a ton of online resources dedicated to CODA and you’ll soon realize that it’s an amazing piece of software. -

My new redesign of ocydesign.com has been in the works for a long time. Moving to Tampa, Fl, without a job had finally given me the amount of time I needed to redesign the site. I have wanted to use wordpress as a CMS for a long time and decided to tackle it with this redesign. At times it was frustrating but I’ve learned a lot through the whole process. Here’s a piece of advice if you’re thinking about creating themes for WordPress. Make sure to install WordPress locally on your machine. I’m using a Mac so I installed MAMP first, then created a database, then install WordPress. It has made a world of difference. Web Designer Wall has a great tutorial here.
